Heijmans books first half profit

Building group Heijmans announced on Monday a net profit of €4 mln in the first half of 2010. Turnover fell by 17% to €1.24 bn.

Operational profit improved to €14 mln, against €5 mln in the first half of 2009, mainly from the Dutch market.
‘We expect a further consolidation in the Dutch construction industry and our strategic focus remains on this sector,’ CEO Gerrit Witzel told journalists during the presentation.
Heijmans sold German railway company Heitkamp Rail last year, but further divestments have been hindered by the economic climate.
