The Dutch baseball team lost its European title to Italy 4-8 on Sunday, ending an 11-year, five title run.

The Netherlands has won the European championship, which takes place very two years, since 1999. Italy last won in 1997.

The tournament used to be played in odd years but from 2010 will be played in even years.
