Companies take on more workers
Monday 16 August 2010
Large and medium-sized companies are again taking on staff, according to research by the Financieele Dagblad on Monday.
For most of the companies, many of which have undergone reorganisations since the economic crisis began in 2008, the number of workers has not yet reached the level of before the credit crisis. Chip maker NXP has recently taken on 400 people but in 2008 it sacked 1,300, says the paper.
Chip machine maker ASML in Veldhoven is, however, bucking the trend. Since January 2010 it has taken on 341 full-time employees and 653 part-timers, a spokesman told the paper. In addition, it has 778 jobs available at its campus.
