Christian Democrat petition against Wilders

A group of Christian Democrats has signed a petition against the involvement of Geert Wilders and his anti-Islam party PVV in any government.

The 44 Christian Democrats want their party to stop negotiating with the PVV and the Liberal VVD for a minority government supported in parliament by Wilders, says Trouw which published the petition on Thursday.
They say the ideology of the PVV is ‘against the Dutch constitution and a threat to our democratic society’.
The party members, who include local politicians and former MPs, are not prepared to wait until the party conference at the end of August when party leader Maxime Verhagen will explain to members what sort of support Wilders is offering and what he wants in return.
According to Trouw, the signatories are worried that if they wait until the party conference, they will be faced with a fait accompli.
