Cabinet meets to discuss budget

The acting cabinet meets on Friday to discuss its annual budget in preparation for Prinsjesdag, the third Tuesday in September when the queen delivers a speech in parliament outlining the government’s vision for the coming year.

With no new government in place, it falls to the previous cabinet to put together a budget, reports Friday’s Volkskrant.
Whether the Christian Democrats and the Christian party ChristenUnie will present their budget on September 21 depends on the speed of the current negotiations between Christian Democrats, Liberal VVD and anti-Islam PVV.
Much of the budget was already in place before the elections in June, but because this is a caretaker government, no new measures can be added.
There will be further meetings about the budget during the course of next week.
