Pelicans escape during flying display, one returns a day late

One of three pelicans to escape from the Beekse Bergen safari park in Hilvarenbeek returned to his cage on Sunday.

Pelican Roderick arrived back on Sunday evening, over a day after he, Blauwerick and Groenerick flew off during a flying display.
The three have been at the park for two years but only recently started taking part in displays.
In 2008, a pelican escaped from Amsterdam zoo just before it had its wings clipped and was last seen in Zeeland, heading south.
