Naomi Campbell summoned to appear at The Hague ICC

Supermodel Naomi Campbell and actrice Mia Farrow have been summoned to appear at the International Criminal Court in The Hague in connection with the case against former Liberian president Charles Taylor.

Taylor is said to have given Campbell an uncut diamond at a reception in South Africa in 1997, which she then told Farrow about. Their evidence could help prove that Taylor traded in blood diamonds – diamonds which were mined using child or slave labour, Nos says.
The prosecution alleges the jewel was among those Taylor had acquired from rebels in Sierra Leone and taken to South Africa ‘to sell … or exchange for weapons’, Sky tv reports.
Taylor has been on trial at The Hague since January 2008 on 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
