Massive blaze on industrial estate under control

Dozens of fire officers were still busy fighting a massive blaze on an industrial estate in Valkenswaard, south of Eindhoven on Wednesday afternoon, Nos tv reported.

The fire broke out this morning in a factory which processes plastic waste and spread quickly to other buildings – one of which is thought to contain a firework storage unit.
By 1600 hours, the fire was said to have been brought under control. According to police, the dense black smoke from the blaze can be seen up to 14km away.
A number of homes close to the industrial estate have been evacuated and other residents urged to keep doors and windows closed. However, police told news agency ANP no dangerous substances had been released into the atmosphere by the blaze.
