Luxury hotels get cheaper as business travel declines

The average price of a five-star hotel room in the Netherlands fell to €201 last year, compared with €231 in 2008 according to calculations by accountancy group KPMG.

The price of a four-star hotel room has fallen eight euros to €95, KPMG said.
Researcher Mark Kemper told the Telegraaf the drop in hotel prices is due to the reduction in business travel and a corporate shift to three-star hotels.
The average occupancy rate fell to 62.5% last year, down five percentage points on 2008.
