Jobs centres to up focus on long-term unemployed

The UWV benefit offices are to begin requiring the long-term unemployed to apply for any job, even if it is below their education level, the Nederlands Dagblad reports on Wednesday.

The organisation has had the power to make claimants apply for all jobs since last July, but has not done so until now because of the economic crisis.
‘Now the worst of the crisis would appear to be over, we are going to focus on people who have been out of work for more than a year,’ a spokesman told the paper.
