Building sector bribery whistleblower faces prosecution

The man who blew the whistle on a massive construction sector corruption scandal can be prosecuted for his role in the affair, the high court ruled on Tuesday, Nos tv reports.

In 2001 Ad Bos, who worked for building firm Koop Tjuchem, went public with a set of parallel accounts which triggered a major investigation into bribery and price-fixing in the construction sector.
Bos was later found guilty of bribing civil servants but was not sentenced, leading the public prosecution department to appeal. The appeal court ruled that the department had taken unfair advantage of Bos’s vulnerable position and had given him the impression he would not face prosecution in return for his evidence.
Now the high court says Bos, who has lost his home and is unemployed, can face prosecution and ordered a re-trial.
