Uruzgan mission: 140 soldiers injured in total

A total 140 Dutch soldiers have been injured during the four-year Dutch military mission in Afghanistan, of whom 41 have suffered permanent damage, the defence ministry confirmed on Monday.


The death toll among Dutch soldiers is 24.
Some 16,000 Dutch men and women have served in Afghanistan since the operation began in June 2006. The Dutch mission, including support staff, is made up of around 1,800 people at any time.
The withdrawal of Dutch soldiers is due to begin in August.
