Purple plus coalition 'not an option', talks halted

Tuesday 22 June 2010

Introductory talks on forming a new coalition government made up of the two Liberal parties, left-wing greens GroenLinks and Labour stalled on Tuesday, Nos tv reports.

Mark Rutte, leader of the right-wing Liberals VVD, does not think there are sufficient prospects for reaching a deal to make detailed negotiations worthwhile, Nos said.

The party has always been sceptical about linking up with the left-leaning groups because of differences over economic policy.

It is not yet clear what coalition negotiator Uri Rosenthal's next steps will be.

I certainly didn´t vote for a purple plus coalition! I do not understand why CDA will not cooperate with VVD, PVV to form a coalition.

The CDA cannot effort to work with PVV because that means it is facing punishment from its European partners.
PVV is financed by U.S. and is one of the most anti-EU parties in Europe. CDA and its broader EU partners are core supporters for EU.

And, of course, VVD want to exclude CDA. The voters vote for VVD now is the voters for CDA before. What do you think? :-)
