Paper tickets to disappear everywhere in April 2011

Paper tickets will become a thing of the past on buses, trams and the metro throughout the Netherlands in April 2011, the group in charge of the introduction of the public transport smart card said on Thursday.

Paper tickets have now been phased out in Rotterdam and Amsterdam and the smart card (ov-chipkaart) is used parallel to the strippenkaart in most of the country.
However, Groningen, Drente and Limburg still have to introduce the swipe card, the Telegraaf reports.
