A complicated coalition formation process would seem to be inevitable after the June 9 general election, with the final polls showing the VVD Liberals still have a six-seat lead over Labour.

With just one day of campaigning left, the latest Maurice de Hond poll gives the VVD 36 seats, Labour 30 and the CDA 25.
Geert Wilders’ PVV is in fourth place and unchanged on 18 seats, double its current support.
And De Hond estimates one in five voters will vote tactically, in order to influence the cabinet formation process.
In Monday night’s party leaders tv debate organised by Een Vandaag, VVD leader Mark Rutte turned his attention to attacking the CDA, blaming the party for the ‘totally failed recovery plan’ of the past few years.
CDA leader Jan Peter Balkenende and Labour leader Job Cohen in turn attacked the VVD, saying the economic policy it backs would have led to soaring unemployment. The Netherlands has acted in accordance with the advice of international experts since the crisis began, Balkenende said.
