Dutch prison escapee given bail in Turkey

A convicted pimp and human trafficker who escaped from the Netherlands while on leave from prison has been given bail in Turkey, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.

There was a major outcry in the Netherlands when it emerged Saban Baran had been allowed out of jail to visit his new baby. Baran was appealing against a 7.5 year sentence for forcing dozens of women into prostitution.
He was later arrested in Turkey on charges of blackmail and money laundering.
Judges in Anatalya have now released him on bail of €16,000 on the condition he reports in every 15 days. His trial in Turkey will begin on October 12.
