Teenagers less likely to forgive Germany

While 90% of Dutch nationals who lived through World War II have made up with Germany, some 33% of 13 to 17-year-olds still say there can be no forgiveness, according to research quoted in the AD on Tuesday.

Nine Nooter, director of the Comité 4 en 5 mei which organises the Remembrance Day commemorations, said the results of the survey were ‘notable’ and could be due to the lack of historical awareness among the young.
On Wednesday, the Netherlands celebrates 65 years since the German surrender.
