‘Amsterdam safer under Cohen’

The crime rate in Amsterdam actually fell in 2009, when Labour leader Job Cohen was mayor, the AD reports on Friday.

The paper’s annual crime monitor shows a 8% drop in reports for 10 common types of crime.
For example, muggings were down 17% and vandalism by 25%, the paper says. Thefts from cars and pickpocketing also fell.
There was, however, an increase in robberies, burglary and threatening behaviour.
