Amateur football club wants minority player quota

An amateur football club in Nijmegen wants to refuse to allow any more ethnic minority players to join because white locals no longer feel at home and minority parents don’t do enough volunteer work for the club, the Volkskrant reported at the weekend.

Some 80% of the the 550 members of Quick 1888 have an ethnic minority background, and the club wants to reduce that to 50%, the paper says.
Nijmegen city council officials are to meet club officials next week to discuss the problem.
‘The council knows the problem and takes it very seriously,’ a spokeswoman told the paper. ‘But a quota is not the solution.’
