€800m to ease traffic jams round Utrecht

The outgoing cabinet has agreed to spend €800m expanding the motorway network around Utrecht, a notorious traffic blackspot at peak periods, the Telegraaf reports on Friday.

Work will start on widening the A28 this summer, with improvements to the A1 and A27 scheduled to be completed by 2015.
The Hoevelaken junction near Amersfoort will also be improved, the paper says. That project will be finished by 2020.
The cabinet has to formally agree on the changes at the afternoon cabinet meeting.
