Dutch World Cup football kit made of recycled plastic
The Dutch national football team will step out in an orange shirt and black shorts made of recycled plastic bottles at the World Cup in South Africa this summer, the AD reports.
The Nike kit is strongly reminiscent of the kit worn by Oranje during its successful appearance at the World Cup in 1974 and 1978 and European championship in 2000, the paper says. The Dutch ‘out’ shirt is white.
All nine countries sponsored by Nike will appear in recycled outfits – each shirt is made out of eight plastic bottles and Nike has used 13 million to make the kits, the AD says.
