Dutch national jailed in Ireland for plane bomb threat

Dutch national Jorge Flores has been jailed for 27 months for threatening to bring an aircraft down with a bomb following a dispute over the cost of a mini bottle of wine, the Irish Times reports.

Flores will serve 12 months as he has been on remand since January, the paper said.
He was found guilty of ‘knowingly making a false alarm’ by saying he had a bomb on board a Caribbean- bound Boeing 767 flight with 231 passengers from Amsterdam in January.
The pilot diverted to Shannon airport in Ireland and Flores was arrested.
The court was told that Flores, 44, was drunk at the time. Judge Donagh McDonagh said he was ‘not impressed’ by Flores’ tears in court and pointed out he is no stranger to the court system because he already has 80 convictions.
