Dutch airspace to remain closed on Sunday, KLM runs test flight

Dutch airspace is to remain closed to all air traffic to at least 14.00 hours on Sunday because of the risk posed by a cloud of volcanic ash from Iceland, the transport ministry said on Sunday morning.


Dutch Rail has put on extra trains to Paris and London and will continue to run extra services to help people get home.
Airline KLM carried out a test flight in a Boeing 737 on Saturday night which returned from over the North Sea unscathed. Airline officials are now urging air traffic control authorities to reopen the skies.
‘I have never seen it so clear,’ operational director Ype de Haan was quoted as saying in the Telegraaf.
