Airport catering staff arrested for cocaine smuggling

Police and customs officials have arrested 11 catering workers at Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport for their role in a cocaine smuggling network between the Netherlands and the Antilles islands in the Caribbean.

The gang reportedly smuggled the drugs in catering trolleys and airline waste bags, Nos tv reports.
A 12th person who does not work at the airport has also been arrested. Police have seized 50 kg of cocaine as well as computers and cars.
The investigation into the smuggling route began last year and resulted in eight arrests on the island of Bonaire last month. More arrests are expected, Nos said.
