Tougher banking controls put on iceFriday 05 March 2010 Cabinet plans to sharpen up the laws on the regulation of banks are to be declared controversial by MPs, meaning they will be put on hold until after the formation of a new government, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Friday. The draft legislation is one of a string of proposals which will not be dealt with because of the cabinet's collapse last month. Plans to increase the home-owners tax on property valued at over €1m is also on hold, as is the proposal to put train services out to tender. Schiphol airport and other regional airport expansion has also been declared controversial. The plans to introduce electronic patient records are also on ice. Ministers left in place after the withdrawal of the Labour party are only empowered to mind the shop. Legislation must have approval of all MPs in order to progress through parliament. It emerged earlier this week that the kilometre tax on motoring and the increase in the state pension age from 65 to 67 have also been put on hold. © DutchNews.nl
Legislation is like Love: if it was strong enough in the first place, it'll still be good after a few months on hold :p By osita | March 5, 2010 3:33 PM Wow...seems like everythings's being put on ice...pretty typical of this country...lets delay until it's too late..oops! By john | March 6, 2010 11:13 AM I know 100% some of my records are already electronic so why does it say they are delaying the talk of INTRODUCING them? They are already in USE!
