Top interior designer arrested in fraud probe

Leading interior designer Jan des Bouvrie has been arrested in connection with a multi-million euro property fraud, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.

The paper says Des Bouvrie, 67, was arrested by detectives with the financial investigation team FIOD-ECD and held in jail until Tuesday night at least. His home in Naarden was also searched, the paper says.
Sources told the paper the investigation centres on the province of Utrecht where several private homes and offices were built using taxpayers’ money. Two other people were arrested last week in connection with the case, the paper said.
The public prosecution department declined to comment on the case, the Telegraaf said.
Des Bouvrie is known for his streamlined furniture and love of white sofas. He has also hosted tv home decorating shows.
