Some €50m in 'criminal assets' seized
Tuesday 02 March 2010
Justice ministry officials seized almost €50m in assets from convicted criminals last year, compared with €30m in 2008, Nos tv reports.
The increase is largely due to claims against television companies, found guilty of breaking gambling laws by broadcasting phone-in gambling games, the public broadcaster says.
The tv companies bought off the threat of legal action by reaching out of court settlements.
