Pay gap yawns in the Netherlands

The average difference in pay between men and women in the Netherlands was 23.6% in 2008, according to European Union research.

In Europe as a whole, the average difference was 18%, EU justice commissioner Viviane Reding said. She was speaking to mark International Women's Day on March 8.
