Kramer too sick for World 5,000m title fight
Wednesday 10 March 2010
Speed skater Sven Kramer is too ill to take part in the final of the 5,000m World Cup event in Heerenveen this weekend, trainer Gerard Kemkers told reports on Wednesday.
Kramer, who is currently leading the championship, has a respiratory infection.
The defending champion's withdrawal opens up the way for fellow Dutchman Bob de Jong, currently lying second, to take the title.
