Elections: Labour almost halved in Maastricht

In the Limburg capital Maastricht, support for the Labour party almost halved, with the party taking six fewer seats to end on seven.

Christian Democrat support was unchanged at seven seats, although it had a bigger share of the vote than Labour.
Pensioners’ party Senioren Maastricht and the Liberal democrats both added two seats while Rita Verdonk’s TON enters the city council with two seats.
Maastricht’s mayor Gerd Leers resigned in January after losing city council support because of the Bulgarian holiday home affair.
