DSB bankruptcy claims reach over €3bn
Some 265,000 former account holders at bankrupt bank DSB have claimed a total €3.4bn in lost savings, the central bank said on Monday.
DSB went bankrupt in October 2009 after a run on the bank, prompted by revelations about mis-selling.
Monday is the last day that former clients can claim back their lost savings under the government’s guarantee scheme. Savings of up to €100,000 are covered.
A further 73,000 people have not yet made a claim. A central bank spokesman said in most cases, the amount of money lost is below €10.
