Communion protest angers orthodox SGP

The fundamentalist Christian party SGP has called on the cabinet to take action to stop gay rights campaigners disrupting Catholic church services.

The campaigners are protesting about the refusal of some priests to give communion to practising gay men and women. On Sunday they disrupted a service in Ben Dosch even though communion had been cancelled as a precaution.
SGP MP Kees van der Staaij described the protests as a ‘criminal act’ because it is against the law to disturb a church service.
The SGP believes homosexuality is a sin. The party also opposes votes for women.
