Cohen factor puts Labour in first place

Monday 15 March 2010

The Labour party has overtaken the Christian Democrats and Geert Wilders' anti-Islam PVV in the latest Maurice de Hond opinion poll.

With three months to the general election, the poll puts Labour on 27 seats, up three on last week. The poll was taken this weekend, after the resignation of Wouter Bos and the announcement that Amsterdam mayor Job Cohen is standing for the party leadership.

Labour's new support comes at the expense of the Socialist party, Liberal democrats D66 and left-wing green party GroenLinks, De Hond said.

The De Hond poll puts the PVV on 26 seats, one down on last week, and Christian Democrats on 25, up one on a week ago.

I think even the Dutch are quite pleased at the idea of having a P.M. who isn't completely bats**t.

PVV on 26 seats? It reminds me the situation in Germany in the thirties.

Comparing Wilders to Hitler is silly nonsense, Zenplus you are free to dislike the man but there is no comparison whatsoever. By making one, you disgrace the victims of the Nazi Party. Sooner or later Europe will have to get over the knee-jerk response to proclaim anything resembling national pride to the Nazi Party.
