Bishops agree to independent abuse inquiry

Catholic bishops have agreed to an independent inquiry into child sexual abuse at boarding schools across the country.

The bishops are ‘deeply affected by the shocking stories of sexual abuse which have emerged over the past few days,’ according to an official statement.
Since the story broke last weekend, over 200 people have registered sexual abuse at the hands of church officials with the church organisation set up to help victims.
