Speed skater Kramer stands by coachThursday 25 February 2010 Sven Kramer sees no reason to part from trainer Gerard Kemkers despite this week's Olympic blunder, writes the NRC on Thusrday. Kemkers mistakenly told Kramer to change lanes during Tuesday’s ten kilometre speed skating race. The error almost certainly cost Kramer another Olympic gold medal. But the three times world champion and four times European champion said he had his trainer to thank for an impressive row of victories and had not contemplated continuing his career without him. Kemkers himself said he at no point thought of resigning as coach. He and Kramer had an ‘open and honest’ heart to heart after the incident, Kemkers said: ‘We still trust each other completely.' © DutchNews.nl
At the end of the day it is just a game and mistakes can happen. I think it shows great sportsmanship my Kramer to stand by a coach that did cost him a gold medal. By B | February 25, 2010 12:55 PM Well done, Kramer. This is the sign of a true WINNER! By bobsocks | February 25, 2010 1:38 PM Because of this, Sven has earned my respect.
