One in three murders is domestic violence

Monday 01 February 2010

One in three murders in the Netherlands is the result of domestic violence, with women accounting for two-thirds of the victims, according to police research, news agency ANP reports on Monday.

The researchers looked at all murders carried out in 2006, and found 49 were connected to domestic violence. Most victims were aged between 25 and 45, but the statistics also included 12 children.

Terrible!

What I've seen here is bad. I've seen almost complete loss of all inhibitions on the streets when in domestic argument. Physical response comes easily, and fast!

I must find a breakdown of the data by income and postcode.

Women fleeing violent partners are treated as abductors if they take their children away from a home they share with a violent abuser without the permission of that abuser! Has anyone looked at the incredible numbers of women trapped here until their children reach 16 years when they can decide that they do not want to have further contact with abusive fathers? Children here are considered as chattels, at no point in divorce proceedings is the child's view or the rights of the child taken into account. For a Western country this is incredible.
