Hotel attacker was on prison leave

A man who attacked and robbed a women at a hotel in the Hague last week had failed to return to prison after being allowed out on leave, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.

The man, in prison for a number of violent robberies, had been allowed out of prison at the end of January. He was rearrested in a house in Rotterdam at the weekend.
There have been a number of cases recently of prisoners reoffending or leaving the country after being given prison leave.
A justice ministry official told the Telegraaf this man was not considered to be highly dangerous and had been given leave because he had less than a year of his sentence still to serve.
