Dutch Eurovision entry finalised

Monday 08 February 2010

The Netherlands' entry for this year's Eurovision song contest will be sung by unknown 17-year-old Sieneke.

Sieneke won the national song contest on Sunday night, during which five different singers performed their version of the Dutch entry Ik ben verliefd (Sha la lie) (I'm in love).

The song was written by 74-year-old Pierre Kartner, better known as Father Abraham and the inventor of the Smurfs. He had the casting vote in the contest.

The Netherlands last won the contest in 1975 with Teach In and Ding a Dong and has failed to qualify for the finals for the past five years.

"Inventör of the Smurfs"? #fail

By NetPierre | February 8, 2010 10:42 AM

Thanks Tros! Now, other countries have more chance to win the Eurovision!

I thought the "toppie" performance of last year could not be worst... I guess I was wrong.

It is funny to see the older Pierre Kartner gets, the more arrogant he becomes.

Parts of that song sound remarkably similar to another tune. Can't quite put my finger on it at the moment, but it really is just like another song.

So, no conflict of interest there.

Laugh? I nearly cried (while rolling around helplessly on the floor). Boy, am I looking forward to the contest itself! Must be worth at least a month on Valium.

2010? ha ha, at least 20 years behind the trend!

20 seconds of this music video was enough!
Keep this shit for the knees-up camping sites!
A shame cause NL did have a good music industry for a long time, both in Dutch language & English. During the 90's it started to fizzle out like a spent firework.

74-year-old Pierre Kartner is definitely the wrong choice. No competition for the times we live in, no competition for a hip-hop rapping world!

The Dutch badly need to rethink their future direction in music for this new millennium!!! Bring back "Cuby & the Blizzards!"

It's not going to make it to the final. It's a shame, the Netherlands has many talented artists that deserve a chance over this silliness.

Erhm...stevie, Cuby & the Blizzards are still around...But even they aren't as good as they used to be...

CW: At least they are musical and not EMBARRASSING! Please, please, 'O please give me my gin!
