Of the 118 abduction cases in 2008, 81 involved the mother either taking the child out of the Netherlands or bringing a child to the Netherlands from another country.
Children are most likely to be taken out of the Netherlands to Belgium, Germany and France. Children who are brought to the Netherlands from another country are most likely to have been living elsewhere in Western Europe or the US.
