Cabinet appears to admit some Iraq errors

The government is admitting MPs were not kept properly up to date about developments in the run up to the Iraq war, tv current affairs show Reporter says on its website on Thursday.

Journalists have obtained a copy of a draft letter written in late January in which the cabinet appears to say parliament had not been kept abreast of events and that Dutch security information about the risk posed by Iraq was not as good as it could be.
The letter is in response to the highly critical Davids committee report on the Dutch role in Iraq. The Netherlands supported the invasion politically but did not send troops.
That report was published in mid January and ministers said they would publish their formal response in early February.
