Media marathon for Haiti kicks off

Radio and television stations from both the public and private sector are taking place in a marathon broadcast session to raise funds for victims of the Haiti earthquake on Thursday.

The radio event – with seven public and commercial stations joining forces – began at 6am and will continue until midnight. Throughout the day, djs, artists and tv presentors are urging viewers and listeners to send money to the emergency appeal fund via Giro account 555.
Tonight, tv channels Nederland 1, RTL4, SBS6 and music channel TMF will join the campaign with a number of special programmes.
Before the marathon started, over €10m had already been donated to Giro 555, the organisers told the Telegraaf.
