Fraudsters get jail but where are they?
Monday 11 January 2010
Four men have been ordered to be jailed for up to four years and pay their victims back tens of millions of euros for their role in a property investment fraud focused on Dubai and Turkey.
The court in Amsterdam said it had been proved that the four created virtual projects to fleece at least 230 investors who were fooled by their 'fine promises, dazzling prospectuses and fake mortgages,' news agency ANP reported on Monday afternoon.
In total, investors handed the gang some €19.5m to put into the Golden Sun and Royal Dubai investment projects, most of which has now disappeared, ANP said.
However, according to the ANP report, all four men have also vanished. Olav B is in Thailand, Daan B took off when released from custody prior to the trial and the whereabouts of the other two, Mirko van O and Marc de B, are also unknown.

Just like the package holidays: once you're there, you find that the hotel is still being built - and noisy! They'll offer you a quieter room and charge you extra, that's old hat!
Anyone who participates in real estate investment abroad, and without doing their homework, has the same chance as a visit to Las Vegas, heads I win, tales you loose...
