The Dutch box office success Oorlogswinter (Winter in Wartime) has made it to the shortlist for the Oscar award for best foreign film.
The film, based on Jan Terlouw's novel about a boy who finds and hides an English pilot during World War II and becomes involved in the resistance, won several Dutch film industry prizes.
Eight other foreign films are on the shortlist out of 65 original entries.
The final nomination list will be published on February 2 and the Oscar presentations will take place on March 7 during a gala in Hollywood.
