Designer Edgar Vos dies on holiday

Dutch designer Edgar Vos has died of a heart attack while on holiday in the US at the age of 78, Nos tv reported on Thursday.


Vos became known as the emperor of Dutch fashion design and his classic designs also enjoyed success abroad.
Vos, born in Indonesia when it was a Dutch colony, studied at the prestigious Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and did an internship with Christian Dior in Paris. He opened his first boutique in 1971 and gave his last fashion show in Amsterdam in 2000.
The chain of 15 shops which bear his name will continue to operate, Nos said.
