Super de Boer takeover approved

The Dutch competition authority NMa has given its approval to the takeover of the Super de Boer supermarket group by family owned Jumbo.

Super de Boer’s works council has also given its blessing to the takeover which now needs shareholder approval at an EGM set for December 8.
Jumbo has offered €552m for Super de Boer, seeing off a rival bid from supermarket group Sperwer.
The Super de Boer Jumbo combine will have some 25% of the Dutch food retail market. Ahold’s Albert Heijn is market leader with 31%.
