Shell wins massive Iraqi oil field contract

The Anglo-Dutch consortium beat off another combine made up of France's Total and China National Petroleum. The Manjoon field is an almost 13 billion barrel site in the Basra region near the Iranian border and said to be one of the largest in the world.

I guess now Dutch and British troops will have to stay a bit longer to contribute to the development of their banana-republic. Who said colonialism is over?

The funny think they (shell) have undercover connections with Malaysian, Angolan, Russians and other oil companies. These companies have participated in financing the war. This is the pay-off for participating in the war.

Long live democracy! I hope the lives of Iraqi children was worth that contract. Shame on humanity.

Protecting the USA dollar was one reason. Sadam was going to start selling oil in Petro-Euros instead of petro-dollars which would have devalued the dollar (not that its worth anything to begin with). Iran also wanted , at the time to sell oil in a new middle eastern petro-currancy. And Malasia was going to do the same thing. All leaving the petro-dollar would have destroyed the dollar and USA "national security". It is much more complicated than that
