Public expected to spend €65m on fireworks

The traditional sale of fireworks for New Year’s Eve celebrations officially starts on Tuesday.
The sale of fireworks to the general public in the Netherlands is only allowed on the three days before 31 December.

The sector expects to sell the same amount of fireworks as last year and forecasts a turnover of around €65m despite the recession.
Meanwhile many major cities have announced that parking will be free on New Year’s Eve.
