Electronics concern Philips expects to make a profit this year although turnover is forecast to be lower than in 2008, said company chairman Gerard Kleisterlee in the Belgian paper De Tijd at the weekend.

Earlier this month Philips announced that turnover of its consumer lifestyle division will improve quarter on quarter, report various media. Kleisterlee told De Tijd that this unit is in a better position to withstand the recession than other parts of the company.
