MPs have voted VVD leader Mark Rutte as their politician of the year, while Rita Verdonk, who left the VVD to set up her own movement Trots op Nederland (proud of the Netherlands) took the prize for worst MP.

Rutte was followed by prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende and housing and integration minister Eberhard van der Laan.
Second place in the worst politician poll went to Geert Wilders, leader of the anti-Islam PVV while Agnes Kant, leader of the Socialist Party was third.
