Motorists warned of ice on Christmas Eve

Thursday 24 December 2009

Motoring organisation ANWB is advising drivers to leave their cars at home on Christmas Eve following a warning from the meteorological office that roads will become extremely dangerous as a result of ice.

The ANWB advises motorists not to venture out after 9pm on Thursday.

The meteorological office has forecast more snow for Christmas Eve in the west of the country and warned that roads will be icy. However the snow is expected to turn into rain on Christmas Day, says the KNMI.

Meanwhile, rail company ProRail announced on Thursday that trains are running as normal for the first time since the chaos of the past week when snow and ice caused widespread cancellations and disruption to services across the country.
